JENNIFER A. SUTHERLAND, PSY.D.
is a licensed psychologist and has been providing psychotherapy since 2003. She received her Psy.D. at St. John’s University in Queens, New York where she has also worked as an adjunct professor teaching courses on the Graduate and Undergraduate level. She received clinical training at the Albert Ellis Institute for Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy and has more recently begun applying DBT to issues of depression, anxiety, borderline personality disorder, self-injurious and suicidal behaviors.
Dr. Sutherland has worked in several school districts on Long Island as a certified school psychologist providing psychoeducational assessments as well as group and individual counseling for students in grades 7-12. Dr. Sutherland is well versed in crisis intervention, risk and threat assessment both at an individual and systemic level. She is currently a consultant working with several local colleges in order to provide psychological assessments and threat/risk assessments to students of concern. Dr. Sutherland has also been working with local school districts to bring mindfulness programs to elementary and secondary levels. She enjoys conducting workshops on topics such as mindfulness, assertiveness and DBT skills for families.
Dr. Sutherland is extensively trained within the area of DBT and has worked with several consultation teams to provide comprehensive research based treatment. In addition, Dr. Sutherland specializes in working with adolescents and their families in teaching self-control, anger management, and behavior management strategies in attempts to increase prosocial behaviors.

LIANNE E. CONROY, LCSW-R
has provided DBT to treat individuals with depression, anxiety, trauma, borderline personality disorder, eating disorders, substance use, emotional vulnerabilities, self-injury and suicidal behavior. She has extensive training in DBT including various off-site trainings facilitated through Behavioral Tech, LLC which include: “Five Day Foundational Training in DBT”, “Adolescents with Multiple Problems” and “Beyond the Basics: Skills Training.” In addition, Lianne has received several years of individual supervision and has been an active member of a consultation DBT team for nine years.
Throughout her experience in practicing DBT, Lianne has led and co-led several adolescent and adult skills groups in addition to Family Skills Workshops. She is committed to pursuing the most current approaches and education regarding DBT in order to provide her patients with the most effective treatment.
Lianne received her graduate degree from Stony Brook University and her undergraduate degree at Loyola University in Maryland. Since graduating in 2000, she has gained invaluable experiences with a myriad of mental health issues and diagnoses. She has worked in various settings, which included a community mental health clinic, a hospital and a school, providing individual,group, and family therapy as well as conducting initial psychological assessments. These experiences in turn, have provided her with a broad knowledge base regarding the emotional and behavioral disorders of children, adolescents, and adults.
MARIE H BANCES, LCSW-R
has provided Dialectical Behavior Therapy for the treatment of suicidal and self-harm behaviors, depression, anxiety, substance use, impulsivity, eating disorders, trauma and emotion dysregulation since 2011. She works with adolescents and adults and provides individual therapy and weekly skills groups for developing the skills of mindfulness, distress tolerance, emotion regulation and interpersonal effectiveness. She also provides DBT Prolonged Exposure for the treatment of PTSD.
Marie has extensive training in applying the DBT method, attending several courses including “Core Principles & Strategies,” “Treating Therapy-Interfering Behaviors,” “Core Clinical Training in Dialectical Behavior Therapy,” “Integrating Family Based Therapy for Adolescents to Treat Eating Disorders into a Dialectical Behavior Therapy Program,” “Conceptualizing Cases in DBT,” “Intensive Training in the Dialectical Therapy Prolonged Exposure Protocol for PTSD,” and “DBT Skills with Multi-problem Adolescents.” In addition to her training, Marie has been an active member of a DBT consultation team for the past 5 years.
Marie received her MSW in Social Work in 1994 and her Post-Master’s Certificate in Advanced Clinical Practice in 1996 from Adelphi University. She has been providing clinical services since 1994 in a variety of treatment settings including inpatient and outpatient facilities. In 2001 she established a private practice providing clinical services to individuals and couples using cognitive behavioral and insight-oriented modalities of treatment. Her experience working with a variety of populations in diverse settings has contributed to her understanding of the complex needs of her patient population.
Marie is committed to help patients develop a balance of acceptance and change for creating happiness in their lives. With her passion for providing non-judgmental, sensitive and compassionate therapy, she continues to help patients develop effective skills for enhancing their capabilities and enriching their lives.
